Originally from San José, Uruguay, Visual Arts and Discovery teacher Virginia Chacon moved to Tampa Bay with her family several years ago from Washington, DC, where she worked at the Uruguayan Embassy for several years. Virginia has worked with children in a number of capacities at Washington International School in Washington, DC and throughout the Tampa Bay area, including at The Wonder Studio in St. Petersburg, where Virginia gained valuable practice aiding students in exploring the world around them through sensory-rich experiences. In 2022, Virginia spearheaded an exhibition of Tampa Bay International School student artwork at the Mirella Cimato Gallery at the St. Pete Opera House. Virginia loves helping children draw inspiration from other artists and the world around them. She hopes students grow to love and appreciate the process of creating art, as much as a final product.
