Social Studies and History

This expanded, integrated block invites students to explore human stories, belief systems, and historical events from multiple perspectives. Units are thematic and often intersect past and present, such as Immigration and Identity, Indigenous Perspectives, Food Systems Around the World, and Sports and Society. Students analyze historical documents, literature, visual art, and personal narratives. They’re encouraged to question who tells a story, examine bias, and reflect on how their own values and understanding evolve with new information. Students develop their writing skills through both expository and argumentative essays; they conduct individual research and present their findings to their classmates.
